Happy Easter!! Today started out with the first ever house-wide Easter egg hunt. We have never before had to search the basement for eggs on Easter Sunday. The kids were so surprised and excited! After a successful egg hunt and religious reminders of the occasion we got ready for church. Church always seems so much better in Easter. Not that it isn't good any other Sunday, but maybe it's my mental state that makes it feel like everything is just a little bit better. Anyway. After church we came home and prepared our food contribution for the Easter Feast at grandma Castleberry's house. Before heading to her house we made a quick stop in West Valley to see BJ at the fire station. I love how willing he is to drop everything he is doing when we show up. They were just sitting down to eat their dinner and he stopped to chat as long as we were willing. We never feel rushed out , (unless he gets a call) just like we are all he needs in that moment. It's so nice. We didn't stay long because we had an Easter egg hunt to get to! Grandma grandpa always do a really fun Easter egg hunt throughout the entire yard. This year, grandpa dropped a hint that the green plastic eggs would be wise to collect. So we have kids running around avoiding everything unless it was green. Inside those coveted eggs were dollar bills! They were so eggcited! (Couldn't resist the pun). After a delicious dinner of Ham, twice baked potatoes, green beans, rolls, a relish tray, and a fruit platter, Brooke and Paul had everyone congregate in the family room for some fun Easter themed games. They ended up moving them outside where there was a bit more space. A walk through the golf course, you-tube videos, Camden's class election video, good conversation and amazing pie would have been the peaceful conclusion of the night if we didn't end it with the inexpensive learning opportunity: Carson and Jake decided it would be fun to take all of grandpas plastic water bottles that he keeps in the garage and empty them in the middle if the street and toss the bottles. Kj is the one who noticed and helped to set them straight. Carson was so sad that he had to give back the money he just found in the egg hunt, but he really did learn about setting a good example especially for kids half his age. I was so disappointed in his choice, but was grateful that the act was such an inexpensive learning experience. The night would have ended on a good note if we didn't have the typical sleepover dilemma between Ashlyn and Kaylee. Carrie and I really need to figure out a way to resolve that mess. Our ride home was peaceful and the kids fell right asleep as soon as we got home. A happy Easter was had by all. :)
