Temple Quarry Family Meeting

I love the third Sunday of the month.  I look forward to it from the time we say good bye until the next month when we meet again.  ESPECIALLY when everyone actually is able to make it!  This Jack-and-Helen-White-passed-down monthly meeting is uplifting, inspirational, and a salve for my hectic life.  Every once and a while it takes a slight turn from our traditional dinner/lesson and we meet elsewhere, like today!  My cousin Caitlin gave a mission farewell talk in her ward.  Since it was so close to the temple rock quarry, my mom decided to have our meeting there!  It was fun to see and spend a few cool outdoor minutes with my siblings and their kiddos.  But the joy didn't end there.  After our little "hike" (if you can call it that...?) we went to a nearby park and had sandwiches, snacks and sugar cookies (in the shape of a temple!).  Mom even prepared a little lesson that she shared before the kids headed for the playground and the adults for the shaded camp-chairs.  What better way to spend Sunday afternoon than with this bunch of characters!?

March Family meeting

One hi light of my month is Family meeting. My siblings, their spouses and kids all gather at my parents house for dinner. After dinner, the kids head off to their favorite recesses of grandmas house while the adults collect for a meeting and a spiritual lesson. We catch up on what's happening in our lives and the designated person will share a thought.
We've been doing this for a few years and this year mom decided to mix it up. She created a calendar of activities that correlate with the dinners. Our first "Family Activity Meeting" was at the Conference Center (after a delicious Lemon Chicken dinner!) where we took an expert tour of the building and roof. The kids were almost as fascinated by the adults. The roof was their favorite part. 4 acres of native Utah landscaping. So impressive. Mom even brought Oreos for dessert! We chatted and the kids played while we snacked and rested from the tour :).
