Bride Wars Review

Isn't it nice to go to the theater and feel like the film you are about to see is intellectually stimulating, creatively produced, thought provoking, and completely plausible? And sometimes it is even better to get exactly the opposite.

This film got awful reviews by people that matter...to someone else. Their calloused reviews say things like, "If you can't sleep go see this movie, you will be cured instantly." and, "This may be the first chick flick that's actively bulimic. (because of it's skinny cast and inability to film Candice Bergen below the waist)". And, one male reviewer had the gall to object the fact that little girls actually plan out their future weddings (Hello! What does he think barbies are for?) Although their reviews do have some valid points, they really know how to make readers (and movie watchers) feel brainless for watching a simple chick flick.

As for my review.

I saw the previews. I thought, that would be a fun movie to see with some girlfriends. It was.

We laughed, we laughed really loud, we cried, we even said aaaw at all the right times, and all of us left saying, "That was really cute!" It is ok not to try and win an oscar (or whatever trophy movies win) for every film produced. It is ok to sit back and eat popcorn because you want to, not because you need something to help calm your nerves. It is ok to get up and pee during a movie and want to hurry back because you may have missed some silly practical joke! It is GREAT to go see a movie that is rated 1 1/2 stars, by some under-worked woman hater named Ty (hopefully he will address those issues and learn to love himself for who he is, not who the world wants him to be), because it gets you out of the house, away from the taunting tasks that will never get done, and let your multi-tasking brain take a break for a measley hour and a half.
